River Birch is a wonderful option for landscapes in our region. It's a native tree to our area and is a host tree to lots of wonderful pollinators.

River Birch generally features a multi trunk growth habit-- and don't forget about that gorgeous, papery bark that birch trees produce. It reaches a mature height of 60-80' tall (at a rate of about 2' per year).

Not picky about growing conditions, River Birch will tolerate full sun to part shade. It prefers moist, acidic soils and even semi-aquatic soils.

River Birch is the host plant of Tiger Swallowtails, Morning Clock and Tortoise Shell butterflies, as well as the beautiful Luna moths.

After planting in the ground, make sure your River Birch receives plenty of water. A drip line or bubbler would be ideal when establishing this tree in its new home. We recommend Prestige Landscapes for bubblers or irrigation needs. A link to their website can be found here.
