Sweet Bay Magnolia is a wonderful Southern native. It is a late blooming magnolia that features creamy ivory cupped blooms with glossy green leaves. There's an old wives tale in the South that says you can tell when rain is coming because the Sweet Bay leaves will turn silver. When the wind catches the canopy of Sweet Bay just right, you'll see ripples of silver that dance with the wind.

Another wonderful thing about Sweet Bay Magnolia is that it acts as a host plant for many of the most beautiful pollinators in our region-- including Spicebush and Tiger Swallowtails.

Sweet Bay Magnolias prefer full sun to partial shade and thrives in wet areas (making them perfect additions along pond and lake borders). They also prefer a slightly acidic soil content.

Sweet Bays generally mature in at about 35' tall. Cold tolerant in our area.
