This Bleeding Heart originates from West Africa and features delicate white and red blooms during its growing season.
It can tolerate sun or shade, but each location has its perks-- grow in the shade for deep, emerald green foliage or in full sun to maximize flower output. Another easy way to encourage blooms is to give it a good trim. Blooms are produced on new growth, so we recommend pruning it in January for spring blooms and again in August for autumn blooms.
This is a mild-mannered climber that will mature in at about 6' tall. At maturity she can drink up to three gallons of water a week, so make sure to give her a deep drence at least once or twice a week when our temps start to rise.
This is not your grandmother's old fashioned Bleeding Heart, which comes from the Dicentras family. Clerodendrum Thomsoniae is from a totally different plant family. She is considered a tropical vine. It will handle most of our winter, but protection will be needed if temps hit the mid 20s.
We sell Clerodendrum Thomsoniae growing on a trellis in a seven gallon container.
Nursery pick up only (or we'll deliver to you for an additional fee). No shipping as of this time. Please remember some plants look different in different seasons, for the most accurate visual representation of our plants, it's best to visit our nursery. Online orders will be ready for pick up within 48 hours (usually sooner).
