Commonly called Citronella, the mosquito plant is actually a member of the geranium family. This plant acts as a wonderful deterrent to pesky insects when crushed and rubbed on the skin. The scent released by the oils in its leaves are a wonderful lemony citrus aroma.

Plants grow 2-3 feet in height and work well for containers. Water when the top inch of soil becomes dry.

Mosquito plants are an evergreen perennial in our area, provided they are covered for long periods below freezing. Mosquito plants prefer six to eight hours of sun each day.
