Thanksgiving Cactus makes a wonderfully, unique gift. It's a super easy plant to care for, if you know the rules:

Pot it in well-draining cactus soil.

Water only when the top inch of soil feels dry.

Give it a home in bright, indirect sunlight (a south-facing window is ideal).

Remove spent blooms. 

Provide a cool, dark spot next autumn for more blooms next November.

The key to Thanksgiving Cactus is to avoid over watering, which will lead to rot.
