Did you know that tree roots are shaped differently underground? A common misconception about trees is that their roots underground are a mirror image of what you see above ground. That's not the case. Trees are shaped more like a wine glasses, with a solid 'base' of shallow, wide-spreading roots to help anchor the tree. 

The area around your tree is vitally important to your tree health. Planting your tree too deeply can cause irreversible problems later down the line.
