This unique plant will produce a red pineapple-- you read that right, a red pineapple! It tastes just as sweet, if not sweeter than yellow pineapple. Pineapples only produce one pineapple per plant, but there's a catch... as the mother plant dies back after fruiting she will send out lots of pups to start the next generation of pineapple plants. It is advisable to remove all but one, so it gets the nutrients it needs to jump start your next pineapple plant. 

Pineapple plants are a member of the bromeliad family and can be grown in containers and even indoors! If growing indoors be sure to give it plenty of natural, bright indirect light and water it twice a week. Outdoor pineapples prefer dappled light, not full sun and appreciate watering at least once a week as well.
